There are two different types of Person Search: Quick and Advanced. These options are far more different than you might think! Not only are they operating off of two entirely different systems, but as a result you could get different results depending on the one you use.
- Note: Feel free to check out our Person Search video guide.
This article will cover:
- Quick Search
- Advanced Search
Quick Search (the default)
The system is searching through WealthEngine’s database of pre-built profiles, which are identical for all our clients. It will return all profiles that match your search criteria, at which point you’ll choose the one you want to work with.
- Note: For best practices, check out our guide to Choosing the Right Profile.
Quick Search is the tool you will want to use with people you don’t know well, such as new leads or those with whom you’ve lost contact. Usually this means you have their name but not their address.
What is it doing?
Rather than looking through WealthEngine’s collection of existing profiles, the Advanced Search will build a brand new, custom profile based on the information that you provide. If you know something that we don’t, including it could actually get you a stronger, more fleshed out profile than the one already in our system. This is especially true of your giving history, which will actually be factored into some of the key scores!
Keep in mind that anything you tell us that we didn’t already know remains within your account and doesn’t touch our general database. This is to protect the privacy of your data, as well as to ensure that if one of our other clients enters incorrect information it won’t hurt you.
- Note: The custom profile will be automatically stored in your My Profiles tab. Only you will be able to see it unless you choose to share it with the other users in your account.
In order to do an Advanced Search, you must have the person’s first and last name, as well as their full address. The better you know a person the more beneficial this tool is likely to be. Remember, taking the time to fill out more of the fields can really pay off in the end!
